Introducing The Tab
Collecting the most interesting content from you and your friends and providing curated highlights
Welcome to The Tab!
The Tab is a monthly newsletter that collects the most interesting and inspiring content from you and your friends, shares it, and provides a list of some of the highlights, curated by other members of the community.
The idea is simple: If you come across a piece of content that speaks to you - whether it be an article, book, podcast, original piece, video, short story, song or more - and you want to share it with the larger Tab community, submit it via a Google form here. At the end of each month, one member of the community will review all the content received and highlight some of their favorite submissions in a newsletter to the wider group. In addition to the selected highlights, all other submissions will also be included in the newsletter and online here.
I (Austin) often say that my love language is sending content to people that reminds me of them. Doing so has helped me and Zach stay in touch with both each other and many other friends over the years, while also becoming just a bit more well-read in the process. Soon, we started receiving amazing content back from our friends as well. We have been able to read, watch, and listen to such a wide-variety of stories that we never would have come across because of both how the ‘algorithm’ works, and the ways in which we consume content. The Tab is an effort to build upon this practice by sharing new and exciting content with each other that both enriches our existing interests, and, perhaps, inspires each of us to find new ones as well.
In addition to contributing and consuming content, we would also love to have different people take turns curating the highlights each month in order to uplift different types of content that is added to the list. Despite the tantalizing possibility of hearing the opinions of two more white men, we would love to hear from a wider range of voices (besides, the odds that we choose the exact same content to highlight each month is slightly too high for comfort). If you would be interested in contributing to the project in this way, please drop us a line!
With all that, Austin would be remiss if we did not include some housekeeping to get us started:
You can always find the full list of content that has been submitted here. It will be sorted by the most recent content submitted with more features to come in the future.
If you come across content you want to contribute, please fill out this form here. Some things to consider when contributing content:
Content can mean anything you want it to be (including an article, original content, a podcast, a video, an album/song, a book, etc.)
Submitted content should preferably refrain from reporting on newsworthy events of the moment, and instead be geared more towards commentary and timeless pieces.
Content does not have to be newly published. We are equally interested in the new piece that came out this week as well as the piece from 2013 that you recently stumbled upon and consumed for the first time today.
Please submit a new form for each piece of content you want to share.
The first edition of The Tab for December 2021, curated by Austin, will be published on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022. Sign up below to receive the first edition! Zach will be curating the January 2022 edition and then we will be looking for our first community curator for February 2022!
This is a group project! If you have any suggestions, improvements, questions, or comments about the project, the process, or the tools we use, please reach out!
Ultimately, The Tab is meant to be inherently communal. We hope that everyone who reads and contributes to this project feels like part of a community, all sharing things that move us.
As always, yours,
a and z
